BRINGING COMPASSION TO LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

MORE THAN A CHOREOGRAPHER

MY TEACHING ETHOS

Dance has provided me a space to express myself and it is my responsibility to be there for dancers as they navigate finding this outlet for themselves. As a teacher in a space, it is important to me that I am present for my students and provide reassurance that a dance class can be more than learning choreography. To curate a safe space for humility and joy to exist is an incredibly rewarding feeling and is something I aim to bring to my dance communities.

I believe in the idea that everyone will always be a student, including myself. Practicing what I preach and taking accountability when necessary are practices that are not shameful, but needed, especially in a world where "imperfection"is often frowned upon.

A quote that I try to practice in my every day life is:

"Let the more loving one be me."

It is in my best interest to spread light and love in all spaces, but ESPECIALLY dance spaces. Movement, no matter what form, deserves to be celebrated, therefore I will provide those environments for the people around me.
